Shalom from Israel

Well, my intention had been to start early with this blog and just update on a regular basis. Clearly, the starting early did not happen. Hopefully I can sum all of it up so far.

My adventure with OTZMA began about 6 days before I left home. I had 6 days to pack up my apartment, find a home for my dog and my reptiles, sell off a lot of my stuff and pack for a 10 month trip. Summing it up in one sentence makes it sound kind of easy... it wasn't! Luckily I have an amazing family and amazing friends who were able to help me get everything taken care of. The hardest part was finding a home for Ziggy. I love that little dog so much and having to give him up was really really difficult for me. On the other hand, it demonstrates how important this whole experience is for me because I was willing to find him a new home so that I could take part in OTZMA.

So my flight left out of Newark and my Dad drove me up there early Tuesday morning. I met about 1/2 of the group at the airport because we were on the same flight.

To be continued.... off to my host family in Ofakim right now!
